Yes, it is dangerous to handle hot containers when they come out of the autoclave. Hot containers may have expanded closures, which makes their handling a bad practice due to possible infiltration or microbiological contamination after thermal processing. For this reason, it is recommended that the cans at the exit of the autoclave be moved to a pre-established dry and well ventilated area with a sign indicating “restricted area do not touch cans”. Handling hot containers can not only compromise product quality, but can also be a safety risk for personnel.
