The multinational Ball will build a new state-of-the-art aluminium can plant in Russia. On October 15, the American company held a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the Russian city of Ulyanovsk.

Officials from the regional government, partners and customers attended the event to welcome this new facility, which is now joined by the aluminium can plants in Argayash, Naro-Fominsk and Vsevolozhsk, also in Russia.

According to the company, there is currently an urgent demand in Russia for more canned beverages and the sustainable production of aluminium containers to meet the growing consumption of metal containers. The first production line is scheduled to open in the spring of 2023, and will feature the most advanced technology and techniques for high-speed aluminum fabrication production capacity in the world.

Ball expects this plant to have an initial annual production of over 1 billion cans providing direct skilled labor employment for 200 individual professionals in technical production, engineering, management, training and quality positions.

In addition, the new plant will bring together the most qualified manufacturing methods and innovation planning, to meet the demands of a rapidly growing Russian market. Finally, Ball’s long-term growth plan also calls for the construction of state-of-the-art greenfield plants around the world, driving efficiencies and meeting the accelerating demand for more sustainable packaging.
