In addition to a significant increase in temperatures and a rise in energy expenditure, there is also an increase in the shopping basket of Spaniards who, as temperatures rise, are shifting their consumption habits to other types of products that are more appetizing in view of the high increase in temperatures. But which products are the stars of the summer?
Tiendeo, the platform that brings together the digital promotions of stores, has prepared a study with the aim of shedding light on the consumption habits of consumers with the arrival of good weather.
According to the report, beer and Coca-Cola are the beverages that characterize the shopping basket of Spaniards, being at the top of the ranking of the most searched products in the last month. However, the interest in tin cans has decreased, with a 36% drop in purchases, despite being a very popular product in the summer months.
With the arrival of sunny days, Spaniards are also moving away from frozen products in favor of fresher products. According to the analysis, searches for frozen foods dropped 33% in the last month. Thus, Spaniards’ interest in fruit has increased considerably (+34%) in the last month compared to the previous month.
Among the other foods at the top of the ranking is olive oil followed by chicken. Salmon appears among the preferred fish of the month, completing the first places on the podium, with an increase of 51% of the searches compared to the previous month.
When the sun starts to shine, there is an increase in demand for ice cream (+86%) to the detriment of other sweet products such as chocolate (-43%) and cookies (-5%).
