Simmons Pet Food, a contract manufacturer of private label wet and dry pet food and treats, is not stopping its expansion and recently announced the addition of a canned pet food processing line in Arkansas, as well as a new wet pet food operation.

Although no further details have been given, this line is expected to be operational by 2021. According to news published on its website, Simmons Pet Food said the new wet pet food line facility will be capable of producing 168 million cans a year.

This line will be operational in July of this year and will create up to 100 new jobs in the Arkansas region, according to the company. The second phase is known to take place at a different Simmons processing facility and is intended to provide an expanded capacity of 240 million units per year.

This expansion is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021.

“This latest slate of projects builds on a $100 million investment and growth plan that included the new Emporia Flex plant in 2019 and a new high-speed can line at Emporia’s main plant,” which achieved full operation in October 2020.
