International ink company INX has opened the entry period for the third annual Coloured by INX can design competition. The sponsored event has generated a great deal of buzz and excitement in the creative community since its inauguration two years ago. Many brand owners, design agencies, marketers and metal decorators compete in a commercial can design using the INX color catalog.
At last year’s event, Great Lakes Brewing Company won the Color By INX can design contest with its entry for Crushworthy Lo-Cal Citrus Wheat beer. Specifically, Crown Brand Building Packaging won the first title in 2020 with its participation in Pueblos de México Unido Edición Muertos by INDIO Beer. Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland took top honors for its Crushworthy Lo-Cal Citrus Wheat beer can design.
Entries for this year’s contest must be postmarked by April 29 and a new approach is being applied to determine the finalists and ultimately the winner. An independent panel of six judges will review and make selections during the voting process.
In addition to Sarah Jacks, color perfection manager for INX International, and Eduardo Ribeiro, business manager for INX International South America, four individuals representing the design, color and brand printing communities will serve as judges this year.
“From the beginning, it was always part of the plan to be innovative and imaginative with this contest. We had a lot of fun with it and received a lot of great feedback, and we thought it was the right time to involve some creative and experienced people outside of our organization in the process,” says Renee Schouten, marketing manager at INX.
“Going forward we plan to rotate our panel of judges each year to provide different points of view. The level of interest in our contest has been high from the beginning and the entries we receive each year are exceptionally creative. We’re looking forward to seeing what will be the best of the best this year,” he adds.
Once the judges determine the finalists, the selections will be available for viewing online beginning May 10. The winner will be announced on the INX International website and social media on May 18.
