The company Trivium has just launched the Forever Canvas Challenge 2022. A competition inviting the creative community to showcase the aesthetic possibilities of metal packaging, including aerosols.

This new design competition is calling for the participation of the next generation of designers in both the US and Europe through a media campaign as well as at leading European and North American graphic design colleges and universities. In addition, contestants will be able to choose one of the products from Trivium’s range and create “clever, eye-catching and memorable designs that champion this form of sustainable packaging”.

The winning designs will become limited edition prototypes and will be photographed by a leading packaging photographer. The resulting images will appear on Trivium’s new website and in a public relations campaign in the US and Europe, including video content for social media. From the company they point out that it’s a great opportunity for new designers to jump into the world of packaging design with a named credit for a leading metal packaging company and a featured piece in the portfolio, Trivium said.

The competition is called Forever Canvas because the aluminium and steel used in Trivium can be recycled forever. From food packaging to cosmetics, metal allows for exceptional branding and graphics, especially since designs can be applied directly to its surface.

The contest will be open until January 4. Each of the entries will be judged by a panel of Trivium experts along with two special guest judges: Andrew Gibbs, founder of Dieline, a leading packaging design website, and Debrah Smith, creative director of packaging design visionaries, Smith & + Village.

Judges will value a great idea that inspired the designs; an appealing design expression that has real, stand-out power and reflects the product category; a design that lends itself to the properties of metal printing and that brands are proud to own, as well as one that consumers want to display and keep in their homes.
