In the recent presentation of its ESG 2022 Sustainability Report, the company unveiled the progress achieved in all areas for more than 15 years in each of its operations. These actions are intended to guide this process of significant change.


Latin America has stood out as the first sector of the company to have the capacity to produce without having to resort to local aquifers for water supply. This is possible thanks to the four plants in the region, which has made it possible to minimize the use of natural resources. In 2022, thanks to the multinational’s efforts, impressive results were achieved: two in Mexico, one in Brazil and one more in Colombia. Together, these production sites accumulated 550 days without consuming water from local aquifers.


Paula Santilli, who holds the position of CEO of PepsiCo Latin America, stressed that Latin America is important for global sustainability goals. “Latin America is central to PepsiCo’s global sustainability goals. Our pep+ agenda allows us to generate growth while respecting the planet’s environmental limits. The actions we are implementing in 2022 are another step on the roadmap we have set for ourselves. With the support of partners and allies, we have contributed to raising the industry standard by creating value for people and the planet.” she added. In order to maintain sustainability standards, they carry out responsible environmental and social practices. As a result, the brand aims to achieve 100% of all its ingredients from sustainable production by 2030.


In its quest to become a 100% carbon-free company, PepsiCo has made efforts to reduce the amount of greenhouse gases it emits through its manufacturing and transportation. By 2022, they achieved a remarkable 27% decrease, taking responsibility for Latin America’s climate future. Also, in Brazil, the company’s second most important market in the region, PepsiCo recovered the equivalent of 100% of the BOPP volume introduced to the market.
