The Sustainable Bottling Co. has just opened a new aluminum filling plant in Leicester, UK. The 8,000-square-foot facility was built thanks to a £1 million investment by Melvin Jay, creator of the Gunna Drinks brand and founder of Gunna Drinks.
The company has announced that this will be the first facility in the UK and Europe to have the capability to package beverages in aluminum containers, not just water. The plant will produce Gunna brand lemonade and will also offer white label packaging services to other companies in the beverage industry.
According to the company, opting for an aluminum bottle instead of a conventional 330 ml can, which is commonly used to package many beverages, offers exciting options as it can hold more liquid and resembles a plastic bottle on the shelf. This facilitates a smooth transition in terms of size and storage capacity, helping to reduce the use of plastic in the industry.
Finally, Melvin Jay noted that “from a personal and professional perspective, I am a passionate advocate of sustainability, and it is something that has been at the heart of the Gunna Drinks brand for the past six years. It is therefore incredibly exciting to be launching The Sustainable Bottling Co and to be able to offer the industry access to significantly more planet-friendly packaging. We believe that aluminum bottles are the future.”
