Trivium Packaging will invest $40 million (€35.1 million) in new assets at two of its manufacturing plants to expand production of aerosol cans and aluminum beverage bottles. A move that comes in response to the growing demand for sustainable metal packaging in the rapidly growing aerosol and beverage market.

Specifically, the company has announced that new lines will be installed at the Youngstown, Ohio, and Itupeva, Brazil, facilities, adding new capacity and significantly increasing capacity in 2023. The initiative is a direct result of the long-term commitments of permanent customers in the Aerosol and Beverage markets, companies that understand the potential of metal packaging and share Trivium’s mission to protect the planet.

Jens Irion, Trivium’s U.S. president confirms that “this $40 million production expansion at our Youngstown and Itupeva facilities will help us and our customers meet the growing demand in the aerosol and beverage market for infinitely recyclable cans and bottles” to which he adds that “Trivium’s sustainability standards play a vital role in the future of our planet, and we are incredibly grateful to have longstanding partners who contribute to a circular economy by committing to the use of 100% recyclable aluminum materials.”

On the other hand, Ryan Noward, vice president and director of Global Beverage at Trivium further adds that “today’s consumer is more environmentally conscious than ever before so our infinitely recyclable aluminum beverage bottles provide brands with a differentiated and premium option for the sustainability-conscious beverage consumer.”

Trivium’s Intupeva and Youngstown facilities are two of three Trivium facilities in the Americas that produce aerosol cans and aluminum bottles. The company also produces beverage containers and aerosols in Europe, and recently invested to expand its offering specifically in the beverage market. In recent years, Trivium has seen increased demand for its high-quality sustainable metal packaging solutions in this sector as companies understand the benefits of the aluminum bottle: a more premium, differentiated, convenient and sustainable option that can be infinitely recycled. In addition to their environmental benefits, metal containers are superior for protecting and preserving the products they contain.
