The multinational L’Oreal has temporarily closed all its stores and directly removed the counters of department stores in Russia in response to the invasion of Ukraine. The company thus strongly condemns the Russian invasion and war in Ukraine.

“Our absolute priority is to support our 326 Ukrainian employees and their families whose lives have changed so drastically. Although some have managed to cross the border, most remain in the country in increasingly unbearable conditions. We are concerned for them and fear for their safety,” the company adds.

The multinational has launched a global fundraising campaign for employees and a volunteer program. “We are working with local and international NGOs (e.g. the Red Cross) in addition to UN agencies (such as the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF), through donations of up to 5 million euros. We have already distributed 250,000 essential care and hygiene products and will continue to provide additional products in the coming weeks,” they reiterate.

The company suspended all investments in industrial and national media in the country and also decided to temporarily close its branded e-commerce sites in Russia. Finally, L’Oreal says it is evaluating additional measures as it deals with its 2,200 Russian employees.
