Voting is open for the fifth edition of the Colored by INX can contest.

 Voting for the fifth annual Colored by INX can design contest has just begun. A team of independent judges has chosen the five finalists, whose designs can be viewed online. Voting will run through Friday, May 24 and the winner will be announced on INX’s website and social media on May 29.

Of the five finalist designs in the “Colored by INX Can Design Contest”, two of them are from Ball Corporation.

The public’s choice will only count as one vote and will be conducted via INX’s Facebook and LinkedIn platforms. In last year’s competition, Ball Corporation was the winner and this year has two designs to be considered for voting. The finalists are:

Ball Corporation, Voodoo Ranger Fruit Force IPA

Jackie O’s Brewery, Mystic Mama West Coast Style IPA

To be eligible for this year’s competition, designers had to have created a commercial can by January 1, 2024. In addition, only one color from the INX Color Catalog, which is considered the most accurate standard in the metal decorating industry, could be used. This catalog was recently updated and features 650 removable metallic color swatches to streamline production and improve communication between the designer, brand owner and metal decorator, allowing labels to get to market faster.

To select the top five finalist designs, the judges took into account different criteria. Each design was evaluated in terms of its originality, overall aesthetics, appropriate use of the color palette, and an explanation of the project detailing how color decisions affected the design. According to Renee Schouten, vice president of Marketing at INX, the difference this year was that only one color was needed instead of two from the INX Color Catalog.

During the selection of finalists, the use of multiple colors in the submitted designs was taken into account, as noted by one of the judges. One designer noted how the INX Color Catalog is very helpful in the creative process by providing accurate and consistent colors. These comments are a reflection of the reason why the catalog was created.
