North American, Utah-based Vobev, the first independent can manufacturer and filler in North America to streamline the beverage supply chain under one roof, has released new details about its facility set to open in the fourth quarter.
According to the company, in particular, the new plant includes an improved supply chain that is 5 times faster than a traditional can maker or filler, and shortens lead times by 10 weeks. Vobev has also revealed details of the manufacturing facilities, such as variety pack options, research and development capabilities, graphics and more. “Opening an integrated, stand-alone canned beverage development and manufacturing facility that is the fastest to market is an incredible team accomplishment,” they say.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is envisioned to be the epicenter for the development of the can making and filling industry and an incubation station for innovation in North America. The Vobev facility includes 100,000 square feet designed to be a one-stop shop for beverage brands with streamlined production options that include everything from recipe creation and package design to beverage making, filling, packaging, storage and shipping.
Among the new benefits is an improved supply chain that is 5 times faster than traditional can making or filling, allowing customers to experiment and innovate at a faster pace. Enables faster time to market: production time was reduced from 10 weeks and carbon footprint was reduced. In addition, Vobev will produce, fill and have the capacity to wrap different can sizes, including 250 ml (8.4 oz) and 355 ml (12 oz) cans.
Another added benefit is the variety of packaging and product options: automated variety packaging for a variety of products including waters, carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, wine, spirits, seltzers and more. Customers will have the option of combining products in different pack sizes, from 4-packs to 24-unit trays with one or several varieties of beverages.
“Opening an integrated, stand-alone canned beverage development and manufacturing facility that is the fastest to market is an incredible team accomplishment,” says Eric Cudnohoske, Vobev’s General Manager. “We have taken bold steps to combine the process from idea to shelf in a facility that is environmentally friendly and technologically savvy. This facility will have the people and space to essentially change the industry,” adds Cudnohoske.
Another added value of the Vobev installation is that it is more environmentally friendly than the traditional canning process. The company will reduce the overall carbon footprint typically produced during the development, manufacturing and logistics processes by combining everything in one place. This process also uses aluminum cans, which are the most recycled product in the US. And friendlier to the planet than other beverage containers such as plastic and glass bottles. In addition, the manufacturing plant plans to leverage additional sustainable processes such as water reclamation, solar energy and warehouse automation.
The company will employ people with technical expertise and deep roots in safety, quality, manufacturing, beverage production and customer service. The new facility will offer more than 400 highly skilled professional jobs over the next 18 months with premium pay for the greater Salt Lake City, Utah area, which can be viewed here.
