Three of Tubex’s four submissions to the Berlin Packaging Institute have been awarded the prestigious German Packaging Prize this 2024.

An award in the Design category was given to the joint submission with DFNS, powered by Aluair. Tubex manufactures a unique aerosol can whose patented, eye-catching design also helps reduce CO2 emissions by using air instead of gas as a propellant.

Aluair and DFNS developed this PFAS-free, water-soluble shoe protection spray to demonstrate that attractive design and environmental protection complement each other very well.

The slot design is not only an aesthetic feature, but will also support the pressure control system in the future.

Tubex won the second prize in the New Materials category for the joint development of a new inner liner together with PPG Industries, specially designed for beverages such as wine and sparkling wine.

There have been quite a few changes, not only in terms of design since Tubex manufactured the first aluminum beer bottles in the 1980s, but also in regulatory requirements. The award-winning inner liner already meets future standards for BPA-ni and formaldehyde.

Finally, Tubex won a third prize together with Respray Solutions Kft in the Sustainability Concept category.

Tubex and Respray Solutions cans have a unique and holistic approach to sustainability that complement each other perfectly. Tubex supplies Respray with its aluminum can with the patented Neucan 3.1 alloy, with real PCR content and decorated with natural ink.

The startup Respray devised an ingenious system for refilling aluminum deodorant cans using compressed air instead of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) propellants. In this way, the deodorant cans are not used only once, but can be refilled up to five times with your favorite deodorant.

To facilitate refilling, Respray invented a machine that can now hold up to three types of products, and customers can easily refill their deodorant at the point of sale.

The jury of the German Packaging Prize had to choose from nearly 250 entries in ten categories.

Tubex and its partners are very excited that their innovations have been honored with a German Packaging Award. This award is presented annually and is organized by the German Packaging Institute in Berlin.
