Multinational Trivium Packaging has broken into the CPD league table. This is revealed in CDP’s 2021 Supply Chain Report, which places the global leader in metal packaging within CDP’s 2021 Supplier Commitment Leaderboard, making it in the top 8% of companies taking steps to make suppliers and partners more sustainable.

Specifically, Trivium has achieved the A rating recently awarded in supplier engagement by CDP, the non-profit organization considered the gold standard for environmental reporting. This recognition follows Trivium’s A- rating for carbon disclosure success and underscores its commitment to working with partners throughout the production process to measure and reduce environmental risks and significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

Jenny Wassenaar, Trivium’s director of sustainability says: “As supply chains envelop the world in complex ways, so do environmental challenges. This makes it critical to connect and collaborate with partners who have a similar sustainability vision to make the transition to a sustainable circular economy.

This year’s report, titled ‘Engaging the Chain: Driving Speed’, further highlights the urgent need for companies to cascade measurements and actions throughout the supply chain to achieve the speed and scale needed to avoid an environmental crisis. The report evaluated the supplier engagement initiatives of more than 8,000 companies based on questions about governance, objectives, scope 3 emissions and value chain participation.

Trivium’s Director of Procurement, Andrew Vanstone, adds, “Trivium’s sustainability goals extend beyond our walls and are integrated into our procurement processes, starting with identifying CO2 in the products we source and working with our suppliers to develop effective strategies to reduce those emissions. Our process emphasizes continuous training of our purchasing community on the topic, moving forward together for a cleaner future. This recognition fuels our team’s passion to continue to make a difference.

Finally, Sonya Bhonsle, Global Head of Value Chains and Regional Head of Corporates at CDP stresses: “Companies must act urgently to cascade action and manage environmental impacts throughout their supply chains to scale the level of action to ensure a 1.5°C future. As a leader in supplier engagement, Trivium is a pioneer driving the transition to a sustainable zero net emissions future.”
