Trivium Packaging has been highlighted for its leadership and transparency on corporate issues and climate change performance by the global non-profit organization CDP. This has allowed it to be included in its annual list, obtaining a maximum ‘A’ rating. Trivium stands out among the more than 21,000 companies evaluated due to the data reported in the 2023 Climate Change questionnaire.

CDP scores are widely used to guide investment and procurement decisions towards a sustainable, zero-carbon and resilient economy. CDP employs a rigorous and unbiased process to evaluate these companies, awarding grades from A to D- based on environmental disclosure, awareness and risk management, as well as demonstration of best practices in environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful goals.

Trivium’s inclusion on CDP’s prestigious A-List demonstrates the company’s commitment to obtaining accurate and comprehensive data that enables a holistic understanding of environmental impact throughout its supply chain. This is only a first step towards more meaningful and effective action in environmental terms.

“2023 saw record temperatures around the world, extreme weather events and unprecedented losses for nature, people and business. Business has a crucial role to play in driving transformative action on climate and nature, but we can’t manage what we don’t measure”says Jenny Wassenaar, Trivium’s director of sustainability. “Disclosure is the first step to effective environmental action. We are delighted to have been named to the CDP A-List for our commitment to transparency.” , she added.

In full compliance with TCFD recommendations, CDP has the largest ecological database in the world. By 2023, more than 740 financial institutions with assets in excess of $136 trillion requested companies to disclose information on their environmental impacts, risks and opportunities using the platform provided by CDP.

Sherry Madera, executive director of CDP, praised all the companies that are part of the A List for environmental disclosure. It also recognized the efforts of those companies that began or accelerated their disclosure process in 2023, resulting in a 24% increase in submissions compared to the previous year.
According to Madera, transparent disclosure of information is essential to demonstrate a serious commitment to creating a sustainable future that is emission-free and positive for nature. Being included in the A List is not just about getting a good score, but also about access to comprehensive, high-quality data that allows companies to understand their environmental impact and establish plans for their transition to more sustainable practices. Madera also urged companies to continue to raise their ambitions and turn their commitments into concrete actions as CDP continues to drive environmental leadership in the current decade.
