Trimet Aluminium has announced the expansion of its aluminum bristle production capacity with the installation of a new casting machine at its foundry in Hamburg, Germany. The facility can now mold around 45,000 tons of aluminum bristles, nearly doubling its previous capacity.
The new machine has a launching carousel with 18 molds, allowing it to launch 18 sows every two hours. Each sow weighs 780 kg, so the machine provides a high technical standard that guarantees excellent and consistent product quality.
For Andreas Lützerath, member of Trimet’s executive board, “the new casting machine enables us to respond even more flexibly to the needs of our customers and we are now in a position to better adapt to fluctuating market requirements.”
In addition to the advantage of increased production and high quality, the new casting machine also improves occupational health and safety at the Hamburg facility. Every stage of the process is automated, from melting and skimming to labeling and weighing, and finally depositing them on a conveyor belt. Robots thus perform jobs that previously had to be done by hand.
