The German company ThyssenKrupp rothe erde has just kicked off the expansion of its plant in Xuzhou, China. A month ago, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new fourth production line took place in the presence of high-ranking representatives from politics, administration and business, as well as numerous customers and partners.

The total area of the expansion will cover an area of around 42,000 square meters, an area comparable to six soccer fields. In addition to the construction of the new hall, state-of-the-art equipment is also being installed which, on the one hand, meets the requirements for energy-efficient production and, at the same time, guarantees the highest possible precision and quality. Production is scheduled to start within a year.

“With the fourth production line of our Chinese company ThyssenKrupp rothe erde Ring Mill Co. Ltd. we are responding to the growing demand for rings and bearings in China and worldwide,” confirms Winfried Schulte, CEO of ThyssenKrupp rothe erde.

ThyssenKrupp rothe erde has been present in the Chinese market for almost 20 years and produces seamless rolled rings at its Xuzhou plant, most of which are processed into slewing bearings. Among other things, they are used in wind turbines, tunnel boring machines or excavators and cranes – in short, wherever rotary movements occur in an industrial environment and must be guaranteed.

“We started in Xuzhou with the production of 20,000 tons of rings per year. This has increased to 150,000 tons today thanks to continued investment,” maintains Winfried Schulte who adds that “with the current expansion to include a fourth production line, we will produce an additional 150,000 tons of rings at the site starting next year.”

“Expanding our local production capabilities not only allows us to offer our customers products of the highest quality, but also means that we are actively working with them on sustainability and environmental protection issues. He sees the components produced in Xuzhou as a key component in meeting today’s global challenges, such as the growing demand for energy and climate change,” adds Winfried Schulte.

According to current plans, the fourth production line of ThyssenKrupp rothe erde Ring Mill Co. Ltd. in Xuzhou will start operations in the fourth quarter of 2022 and will generate 160 direct jobs.
