- Under the slogan “Metal Recycles Forever” (Metal Recycles Forever), the project will begin with an informative video and will include actions in the media, social networks and influencers, among other initiatives.
- AME has created, in turn, the Infinity Awards, awards that are born with the aim of promoting the communication of the advantages of metal packaging and closures and the importance of recycling for the circular economy.
- Metal is one of the most sustainable materials in existence as it is infinitely recyclable while maintaining its physical properties, which is why it is called a “permanent material”, which is why the infinite symbol will be very present in the campaign.

MadridNovember 10, 2022To raise awareness of the advantages of metal packaging and closures, which are infinitely recyclable and all the benefits they bring to the circular economy: these are some of the objectives of the campaign that the Spanish Metallographic Association (AME) has launched in line with its slogan “Metal Recycles Forever“and is aimed at society as a whole.
With it, the Association seeks to convey to consumers of all ages the multiple values of metal packaging and closures and, especially, their main feature: the ability to be infinitely recycled.
Metal is one of the most sustainable materials in existence, as it is recycled forever, thus promoting theí the circular economy process. For this reason, the campaign will feature the infinity symbol, a concept that represents the quality of metal as a permanent and infinitely recyclable material.
The ideal material for packaging and closures
Due to its characteristics, metal has proven to be the ideal packaging material compared to others because, in addition to the benefits related to sustainability, metal packaging and closures are a clear example of efficiency and performance in the production and supply chain. In addition, this strength allows the filling, storage and subsequent transport of the containers to be carried out without any risk of breakage or loss of the product.
On the more aesthetic side, metal packaging and closures offer brands a great competitive advantage. The adaptation of size, shape and design that these containers allow, gives brands infinite possibilities to choose the one that best suits their needs.
Always to the yellow container!
Metal is also the most recycled material: the combined recycling rate of steel and aluminum packaging in 2021 in Spain reached 86.4% and is a benchmark in terms of energy savings and reduction of CO2 emissions.
To ensure that these figures continue to increase, AME wants to send a clear message to the population with this initiative: the consumption of metal packaging – cans for food and beverages, aerosols, industrial packaging such as paint containers or decorative packaging such as a metal cookie tin – and metal closures – caps, lids or the metal seal on wine – is a form of sustainable consumption. Therefore, and this will be another of the key messages, all of them must be deposited in the yellow container.
Campaign actions
Among the various actions aimed at bringing society closer to the properties of this material, the Association will first present an informative video that will be shared on different platforms. The campaign will also have an important presence in social networks with the participation of prominent influencers from different fields.
AME has also launched an initiative, the I Infinito Awards, an award that aims to promote and recognize the best work disseminating the properties and benefits of metal packaging and closures.
