More than 35,000 people have had to be evacuated in southwest Boulder County and Louisville due to two major fires in Marshal, Colorado that have so far scorched thousands of acres and burned at least 500 homes that have been engulfed by flames.
Both wildfires recorded last week have been accompanied by historic winds of between 123-160 km/h, which is making firefighting efforts difficult and has so far left a balance of 647.5 hectares burned in Boulder County.
To support the victims, Ball has decided to donate $1 million to the Boulder County Community Foundation, benefiting the Boulder County Wildfire Fund, which is working closely with local government and nonprofit partners to support those most affected by the wildfire.
The Ball multinational company states that “we are heartbroken by the devastation caused by the Marshall and Middle Fork fires in Boulder County. We are thinking of all our affected employees, their families and our surrounding community”. Finally, The Ball Foundation will match employee donations as part of the company’s ongoing community support efforts.
