Soudronic announces phase-out of ORC and DRC roller coating technology Unit production has stopped because key components are no longer available.

As many electronic components used in Frei AG’s older systems are being phased out by suppliers, the need has been created to adapt electrical systems to accommodate new equivalent replacements. According to Soudronic, this is the best opportunity to upgrade to the latest technologies.

Roller coating systems are used to coat flat objects (substrates) using a combination of multiple different rollers to obtain the desired coated surface. Coating systems using rollers are capable of supporting various coating fluid viscosities and different coating thicknesses through the combination and specialization of many different technologies.

The use is limited to the coating of relatively thin flat objects such as films and foils. However, wide and long substrates (objects) can also be coated continuously and quickly. These systems are mainly used for wet coating. In some cases, the process is performed in a clean room to avoid adhesion of foreign particles on the wet surface prior to solidification.
