Multinational Sonoco, one of the world’s largest sustainable packaging companies, has just named Ernesto Haynes president of Metal Packaging, a leading manufacturer of sustainable metal packaging for food and household products and the largest producer of aerosol cans in North America.
In his new position, Haynes will be responsible for managing Sonoco’s newly acquired Sonoco Metal Packaging business. Haynes replaces Jim Peterson, who is stepping down after more than 15 years of leadership. Haynes will work closely with the Metal Packaging and integration team to ensure that the business achieves its financial and operational objectives.
Coker notes that “the business is positioned for future success with Ernest at the helm. We are working to ensure business integration that will be a smooth transition for all stakeholders, and we are committed to maximizing continuity for our teams, customers and suppliers. We congratulate Ernest on his new role, and also thank Jim Peterson for his leadership and continued support during the transition.”
“In my 25 years at Sonoco, I have had the opportunity to hold leadership positions throughout the organization and I look forward to this new opportunity,” says Haynes who adds, “I have already had the opportunity to travel and meet the teams, and it is truly the people that make this business so special. Together, I am confident that we will achieve great success.”
