PPG recently announced increased capacity for the production of varnish coatings for the outside of beverage cans, including PPG ISENSE™ gloss coating, at its Delaware, Ohio, plant.
According to the company’s press release, the addition of new volume at the new plant in Delaware to existing coating capacity at its Oak Creek (Wisconsin) facility for container coatings will increase the company’s total U.S. coatings production by 40%.
“Beverage can manufacturers around the world are facing unprecedented demand for their products,” said Todd White, PPG general manager, U.S. and Canada, and global strategic accounts, packaging coatings. “With this additional capacity, we are committed to helping them meet that demand while adding more security to their beverage can liner supply chain.”
“PPG is the world’s largest supplier of two-piece BPA-free beverage overvarnish and internal coatings,” said Robyn McMillan, global beverage segment manager for PPG. “With can makers scaling up, we are investing in our production capacity to ensure they have localized sources of the PPG coatings they depend on.”
