Metsave AG has developed a revolutionary new aluminum lid for beverage cans. This newly developed aluminum can features a resealable lid, allowing it to be opened and closed several times without affecting the quality of the contents inside the can.

Also, this feature causes the end of the can to automatically close in the event of tipping, which is useful to avoid accidents and liquid waste. Metsave AG is a company that focuses on resource preservation. In addition, they have a patented system that can be used in different industries, such as bottle caps, metal cans, cardboard boxes and building modules.

The system ensures high strength, density and stability despite using a 12% cheaper material. This ingenious mechanism is activated when the can is turned over and works in a very simple way. I will explain its operation in detail below.

The aluminum part has a special construction that incorporates a pivoting system and a spring mechanism. The hinge part facilitates the opening and closing movement of the end, while a spring is responsible for applying the necessary force to close automatically.
If the can is in its normal position, i.e. not overturned, the end of the can remains open so that you can drink without any restriction. If the can tips over, gravity acts on the end and the spring mechanism detects this change of position and activates. Finally, the spring contracts rapidly, automatically closing the end of the can.

“By saving raw materials, we want to help protect the environment and thus contribute to the future for all of us. METSAVE AG has set itself the task of conserving resources in a wide variety of industries. Starting with bottle caps, metal cans, cardboard boxes and building modules. Our patented system can be used in many areas and save millions of tons of raw materials.“said Metsave Ag.

“Our customers can easily adapt their production lines without disruptive interruptions or loss of quality. The METSAVE system guarantees strength, density and stability despite material savings of up to 12%. The customer not only saves millions in costs, but also contributes to resource conservation.” concluded the company.
