With a desire to keep the planet beautiful and healthy, premium vegan-friendly brand Raw Sugar introduces a new line of aromatherapy hand wash in a 100% recyclable aluminum bottle.

The packaging used for the Hand Wash Therapy collection is a custom brushed aluminum 12 ounce bottle from an in-house supplier.

In February 2021, Raw Sugar Living, a personal care brand based in Sarasota, Florida, expanded its line of clean, premium and healthy living products with a line of hand soap, the Raw Sugar Hand Wash Therapy collection, packaged in recyclable aluminum bottles. Raw Sugar Living launched in 2014 and has since added premium, vegan-friendly personal care products, including those for body, skin and hair, recognizable on the shelves by the company’s signature Bamboo Tops & White Bottle packaging.

“Developed around our core belief that a person is as beautiful as you make them feel, our products are made with certified organic extracts, plant-derived ingredients, eco-friendly packaging and sustainable bamboo tops, all with the tagline ‘Living Purely Unfiltered’ and personalized with a note Sugar [nota de amor] about loving the skin you have,” shares Ronnie Shugar, co-founder and CEO of Raw Sugar Living.

As the company’s co-founder and marketing director, Donda Mullis, explains, Raw Sugar Living goes through a rigorous screening process to ensure the quality, origin and safety of the ingredients it uses. For this reason, we have developed our own ‘free from’ policy and validated safety protocols to ensure that we use the highest quality ingredients in all our products,” he says.

In addition to focusing on product quality, Raw Sugar Living also takes the sustainability of its packaging very seriously. “We want to keep our planet beautiful and healthy, which means doing our part to take recycling beyond the kitchen and into the bathrooms,” says Mullis. “We’re delighted to see the beauty and self-care sector as a whole starting to move towards more sustainable packaging. That’s why we’re making a concerted effort to use less virgin plastic and design packaging that is more earth-friendly, biodegradable and recyclable.”

The company chose aluminium because of its high recycling rates compared to plastics. “Aluminum has the advantages of being a material that recycles at a much higher level and is 100% recyclable,” he says. “In addition, it is more likely to be reused by the consumer, which creates the possibility of refill options and even fewer unused materials in the packaging cycle. It also reduces the overall environmental footprint as a material.”

The packaging used for the Hand Wash Therapy collection is a 12 ounce brushed aluminum bottle manufactured by an in-house supplier. The bottle uses aluminum as a background on which is printed its brand, a color code that differentiates each of the three fragrances and a stamp icon that says “Sustainable Eco Bottle”. The bottle is offset printed in five colours with a 100% biodegradable, non-toxic, food-safe ink; a proprietary coating is added to protect the graphics. The bottle’s dispensing pump uses a neck made from the company’s signature faux bamboo material.
