Lindal Group, international aerosol dispensing specialists, recently won the FEA Global Aerosol Award for its polyurethane foam gun, the Added Value Gun (AVG). Topping the Prototype 2021 category, the judges singled out the AVG for its unique performance and sustainability characteristics.
A one-component polyurethane foam fluid dispensing gun, the AVG is a new patented device designed for use in industrial and domestic insulation tasks. Addresses long-standing end-user challenges such as extended foam cure time, lack of reusability, complexity of use, and poor adhesion associated with traditional polyurethane foam applicators
Specifically, the AVG uses a dual cylinder to operate a single trigger that first dispenses an additive/water to lightly wet the surface, followed by the polyurethane foam. This pretreatment method significantly reduces the foam curing time compared to existing 1k gun applicators and produces a finer cell structure, improving the insulation properties of the foam.
According to the group’s marketing manager, Kashif Choudhry, “We are delighted that our experts in polyurethane foam gun and high-flow valve manufacturing have been recognized for their exceptional efforts in the development of AVG. We believe its myriad benefits make it a high-level disruptor within the polyurethane foam market with the potential to attract new end users.”
The extended life cycle of the AVG also results in less waste produced over time than many existing PU foam applicators that are not reusable. In addition, the use of compressed air through LINDAL’s Bag-On-Valve technology used to dispense the additive reduces the production of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
In addition, AVG presents new opportunities for foam manufacturers and distributors who can add AVG to their existing ranges, offering this as a more cost-effective alternative for those producing 1.5k foam guns.
Choudhry adds that “AVG’s reach and potential are far-reaching and we are excited about its future. It is an appropriate time to collect this award as we look forward to that future and the official launch of AVG in 2022.”
Also the FEA judges commented that “Lindal’s AVG value-added gun improves performance and sustainability credentials compared to existing polyurethane foam applications. This innovation addresses a key societal challenge.”
