One of the most emblematic and traditional brands in Colombian neighborhood stores and supermarkets is celebrating its 100th anniversary in the country. It is Nestlé’s La Lechera brand, created by the North Americans Charles and Georges Page.

Nestlé Dairy sold its first can in 1914. The company arrived in the country in 1922 and today has its own production plants in the territory. Today, a century later, its success story in Colombia has resulted in a consolidated company that has its own infrastructure in the country to produce this emblematic product, with added value such as sustainable production.

“For one hundred years we have been part of the lives of several generations of Colombians. From the times when we used to uncork the can of La lechera with a lace to enjoy that incomparable flavor, going through many changes and transformations that have made families, customs and food evolve, and with which La lechera, maintaining its unique and delicious flavor, has been evolving its portfolio to offer options that adapt to the tastes and needs of Colombians to continue turning their small moments into great stories.” said Martha Arbeláez, Marketing and Communications Director of Nestlé Colombia.

From the farms of small producers in Caquetá, Antioquia and the Atlantic coast, La Lechera receives quality raw material, thanks to the sustainable practices that farmers in these regions have been working together with the company. Thus, the milk travels more than 1,000 kilometers to the Nestlé factory in Bugalagrande, Valle del Cauca, to be processed and become an essential product on the table of Colombians who love to sweeten every moment.
