Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I has announced the arrival of La Casera to the British market, a new ready-to-drink alcoholic beverage (RTD) brand that strengthens its expansion strategy beyond soft drinks.

La Casera, an iconic drink in Spain, especially in its Summer Red Wine category, which combines wine and soda, is designed for British consumers looking for a casual aperitif moment with friends. The drink, which will be produced in Toledo, comes in versions with red and white wine, and is already available in WHSmith stores and on Amazon.

With global growth of 20% annually between 2020 and 2022, the RTD segment continues to boom and is expected to exceed £39 billion by 2030. In 2024 alone, La Casera accounted for 88% of the volume growth in its category in Spain and dominated the hospitality channel, contributing 9 out of 10 incremental liters.

The announcement is part of Suntory’s strategy to enter the UK alcoholic beverage market, as it did with the Japanese brand -196. Now, with La Casera, it seeks to capitalize on the upward trend of spritz-type drinks, still little explored in the ready-to-drink format.

Sales Director Alpesh Mistry stated that La Casera arrives to fill a gap in the current market dominated by spirit-based products, opening a new opportunity with a different product of Mediterranean heritage.
