A few months ago, the company KazAlPack announced the start-up of a new beverage can plant in Kazakhstan. It is the first in Central Asia for the production of light metal packaging and is based in Shymkent.

The project, with a total investment of around 23.4 billion tenge, is being implemented within the framework of the Basic Stuff Business Program. At the moment, the work continues apace and the first batch of large Stolle equipment has already been installed. The washing unit, drying ovens and a CM filtration system are also already on the company’s territory awaiting installation. The work began in 2020 and will continue for the next few months. The company expects to begin operations by the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2022.

Specifically, it plans to produce 750 million units of 450 ml aluminium beverage cans and lids per year. Furthermore, this project will use the most modern technology of Stolle Machinery Company (USA), the world leader in the production of such equipment.

The project will have fully automated measuring systems and equipment on an 800 m production line in the 22,000 m2 plant and will include 13 production operations and a series of quality control systems, so the speed of the production line will be 50 cans and lids per second or 3000 pieces per minute which will mean the creation of 170 jobs.

In this way KazAlPack will meet a production of 500-600 million beverage cans per year, which is 75% of the needs of the national food industry in aluminum cans.
