Heineken launches spot to break the stereotype that playing video games is antisocial

Heineken, the famous beer manufacturer, launched a campaign that wants to show that video games do not always mean being locked up in oneself, having fun alone. It is aimed at all those who believe that games are exclusively to be enjoyed alone.

The ad starts with four friends talking by text message from various locations (from a boxing ring, from a barbershop chair and from an orchestra rehearsal) to meet up that same night in the Brazilian city of São Paulo.

The Heineken beer company made an ad titled ‘Just Another Night Out’ to explain how you can spend time with friends from the comfort of your home. The video shows a group of friends communicating through virtual lines instead of going out to a bar, and suggests that playing a video game along with some of the brand’s beverages could be a fun alternative.

“Not all nights out are free,” Heineken assures at the end of its announcement. “We entered the gaming universe because we have something in common: the fact that socialization is both the core of our brand and of the gaming community,” explained Eduardo Picarelli, director of the brand’s Business Unit in Brazil.

Heineken has managed to get coupons for its products offered within 2,700 mobile games or, for example, IFood, a food and beverage delivery app, will also allow players to order drinks offered by the brand.
