Hardys, the UK’s number one wine brand, plans to launch a new canned format by June. The new Hardys cans will be launched in three popular wine varieties: rosé, chardonnay and shiraz.
A launch that responds to the current market demand for new proposals. Since 2020, consumption of light wine in cans has grown by 46% and is now worth £11.4 million (0.2% of total light wine). According to a recent study, 52% of people aged 18 to 44 drink canned wine or plan to do so in the next 12 months.
Lindsay Holas, brand manager for Accolade Wines, adds that “the can format opens the door to a myriad of drinking occasions and audiences. Offering a convenient and easy-to-recycle option, we expect the cans to be a hit at festivals in the coming months, while also performing well at retail, with their compact size making them perfect for picnics and outdoor summer occasions.
Made from aluminum, Hardys cans are fully recyclable, reinforcing Accolade Wines’ long-term commitment to sustainability and reducing its overall impact on the planet. In addition, the new collection is Hardy’s latest innovation to hit the shelves and shows the brand’s commitment to making wine more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
