The Riojan company Grafometal has just kicked off the week of families. The purpose of the open day organized by the company is to allow employees’ families to get to know the plant more closely.
The initiative, according to the company, was already a success on its first day. Grafometal is an independent and fully professionalized family business located in La Rioja (Spain). It currently has a staff of 170 workers who have been dedicated since 1988 to the varnishing and lithography of tinplate as their main activity.
Indeed, the great boom in the sector dates back to the second half of the last century, when the excellence of canned vegetables from the Rioja countryside turned the community into a major pole of attraction for canning companies.
With a combined turnover of 850 million euros, packaging companies contribute one out of every ten euros of the regional GDP to the economy of La Rioja, generating almost 3,500 direct jobs in an industrial fabric that brings together almost a hundred companies.
