European Aluminium, the voice of the aluminum value chain industry in Europe, has announced the appointment of Paul Voss as the new CEO of the European organization. Voss will succeed Gerd Götz, who retires at the end of March after almost a decade at the helm of the organization.

Notable achievements under his leadership include the launch of the industry’s Sustainability Roadmap to 2025, Vision 2050 and the Circular Aluminum Action Plan, and the creation of our Innovation Center. “Voss’ strong track record in representing the industry and its expertise in renewable energy will help European Aluminium strengthen its role in addressing today’s industrial and sustainability challenges,” notes Ingrid Jörg, president of European Aluminium.

Paul Voss joins European Aluminium from Euroheat & Power, the European district energy industry association, where he has been managing director for the past eight years. Voss is also a public affairs and relations expert with 20 years of experience in Brussels and in the energy sector. Paul Voss has studied in Canada, France and Belgium and holds a Master’s degree in European Public Policy.

“I am honored to have been appointed CEO in a vital period for the European aluminum industry and the wider European Union project as well as for the wider European Green Deal project. Reconciling the dual imperatives of environmental sustainability and maintaining a strong industrial base will be one of Europe’s most important tasks in the years and decades ahead, and we fully assume our responsibility to contribute to this. I look forward to working with policy makers, our members and partners to create a policy framework that enables our producers to transform their ambitions for sustainability and innovation, while meeting the growing demand for our metal in a fair and competitive global marketplace,” the new CEO emphasizes.

According to Voss, his immediate priorities will be to ensure that the Fit for 55 package works for aluminum, elevate the focus on sustainability and strengthen trade defense against unfair practices.
