For the sixth consecutive year, Diageo Company is included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index 2023, which tracks the performance of public companies that are committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality. This company demonstrated its commitment to this cause by revealing the efforts it has been making for the past six years to improve gender equality.
In 2023, Diageo was honored by making the list of 484 companies in the Bloomberg 2023 Gender Equality Index (GEI). Presented for the sixth consecutive year, the recognition demonstrates Diageo’s continued global commitment to gender equality and the hard work done by everyone to ensure that women in our business feel empowered.
Diageo’s 2023 score represents another positive year-over-year change, reflecting the introduction of new policies, continued support of employee support schemes, partnerships with charities and inclusion organizations, as well as wider initiatives to promote gender equality.
“We are proud to once again be included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index 2023, which demonstrates our continued commitment to championing equality. We will continue to focus on inspiring the current and future generation of women leaders as we create an egalitarian and inclusive culture at Diageo,” she added.
In 2022, Diageo introduced new guidelines and initiatives to help break down barriers for women, both in the workplace and with our suppliers, partners and through our progressive representation work. In September, we introduced our Pregnancy Loss Guidelines to support employees and raise awareness of the various types of pregnancy loss, and in 2022 Diageo also launched the Balance + app for all employees, giving them unparalleled access to medically approved content, helping them to optimize their well-being.
Our company has continued to be recognized as a global leader in the field of women managers and executives. As of June 2022, there are 44% women in senior positions, an increase of 2%, and they also make up 64% of the board of directors. We are investing heavily in attracting more women into entry-level positions with career opportunities such as early career programs, apprenticeships, internships, internships and scholarships to strengthen future female leaders.
During the last 12 months, Diageo demonstrated its commitment to social change through various global projects and initiatives. At COP27, together with WaterAid and Coca Cola, we funded the “Gender Guide for WASH”, which provides companies and NGOs with the support and knowledge to ensure that women have equal access and agency over water sanitation and hygiene provisions in their projects.
We also announced our 4th year as lead sponsor of the Creative Equals Returner program in the UK, India and the US, as part of our ongoing commitment to creating an advertising and media environment where, from script to screen, everyone is represented.
“Thank you to all the companies that submitted for the first time, and to those that continue to submit. Your participation and transparency help propel the needle forward, creating a workplace that better reflects our world,” he noted.
