At the end of this month, the production of stoppers will cease and the production will be carried out by a foreign company. To achieve this, a voluntary severance with double compensation was given to all workers who were laid off. At the end of June, Crown Hellas Can will end its lid manufacturing services in Corinth.

Crown Hellas Can has decided to definitively close its production line. This drastic decision was taken due to the fact that the products were old technology and its customers had been considerably reduced. On the other hand, the product it has replaced is produced in a foreign factory with advanced engineering equipment.

It appears that the company undertook a voluntary redundancy plan as a solution to its financial problems. The program was accepted by all 32 workers, a figure that is very close to what was expected. This voluntary severance plan includes a severance payment twice that provided by Greek law, unemployment benefits for one year, family allowance for those with children, and medical and accident coverage for one year.

It should be noted that the closure of the Corinth plant comes relatively quickly after the sale of the Thessaloniki plant in 2021 to Tinplate NewCo.
