Two years after acquiring 40% of ALM, SL, Colep Packaging has purchased the remaining 60% of the Spanish aluminum aerosol manufacturer. With this transaction, Colep Packaging acquires the entire share capital of ALM and reaffirms its ambition for growth in the aerosol market. By 2024, ALM is expected to reach sales of more than 16 million euros. By 2026, the company aims to double its aluminum aerosol production capacity, and a post-acquisition expansion plan with an investment of more than 15 million euros is planned.
This additional investment is essentially aimed at improving infrastructure and strengthening the Barcelona plant’s production capacity, enabling it to supply the Iberian and European markets. With over 35 years in business, ALM produces and sells a wide range of aluminum packaging solutions specifically for the food, beverage, cosmetics, personal care and home care industries.
This expansion move is strategic for Colep Packaging, as it reinforces the company’s value proposition as a preferred partner for metal packaging solutions, both in tinplate and aluminum. In the last two years, the global aerosol market has grown by more than 6% annually, reaching 10 billion units produced per year. For Paulo Sousa, CEO of Colep Packaging, “this operation, together with the recent entry into Mexico, reaffirms our vision for the aerosol segment and is part of the company’s growth strategy.” Colep Packaging’s industrial infrastructure is currently based on five locations: Vale de Cambra, Portugal; Kleszczów, Poland; Navarra and Barcelona, Spain; and Querétaro, Mexico.
Colep Packaging, a RAR Group company, is one of the most relevant suppliers in the aerosol market in Europe and Iberian leader in general line packaging. More than 50 years of experience in metal and plastic packaging position it as a global supplier in the development and production of packaging solutions.
With a turnover of 128 million euros, it employs some 630 people in Portugal, Spain, Mexico and Poland.
The RAR group, for its part, is one of the main Portuguese business groups, with a 2/2 diversified business portfolio in the areas of packaging, consumer goods, food, real estate and services.
