Coca-Cola HBC has announced that it will invest a substantial 19 million euros to expand its Knockmore Hill site in Lisburn, Ireland. This includes an extensive canning and bottling process improvement program.
This company has made a significant investment since opening in 2008 and as a result has secured 35 new jobs with recruitment underway. The extension will add an additional 4,597 square meters to the facility, covering manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Production at the expanded facility will begin in August 2023.
With a heritage on the island of Ireland dating back to 1938, Coca-Cola HBC employs over 750 people across the island with 450 colleagues based at the Knockmore Hill site. Since 2008, Knockmore Hill has received a large investment of €145 million. This is used to help Coca-Cola HBC meet its NetZero goal by 2040. These investments include innovative and environmentally friendly packaging launches, water saving programs and the increasing use of recycled plastic.
The Coca-Cola beverage company initiated a process to expand its bottling line in Europe, which finally ended with the selection of locations in Ireland and Northern Ireland. These locations turned out to be the most attractive among all those that participated in the competition.
Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland general manager Miles Karemacher mentioned with excitement how they were happy to announce the expansion of the Knockmore Hill production facility. This development signified a strong commitment on the part of this multinational company to the Irish workers and communities living here.
“I am incredibly proud of our team at Knockmore Hill and the work they do, acting as a leader in innovation and sustainability across the industry and I am confident that the future is bright for our organization across the island in the coming years,” concluded the head.
