Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Ltd. has announced an investment of $141 million to renovate and expand its main production, distribution, and sales center in Brampton, Ontario.

The expansion will include a new production line with the capacity to generate at least 20 million additional cases per year, increasing production capacity and packaging possibilities, as well as accelerating the introduction of innovations to the market.

The project is expected to generate up to 500 jobs during construction and will be executed exclusively with Canadian labor, using at least 75% domestically sourced materials. According to the company, the new line will be one of the most technologically advanced in the country.

The Brampton plant has more than 1,300 employees, serving over 7,000 local customers from Kitchener to Oshawa, and distributing beverages throughout the province and Eastern Canada. The project follows the $8 million investment made last year in the Hamilton distribution center.

Coca-Cola’s first Canadian bottling plant opened in Toronto in 1906, marking the first time its beverages were bottled outside the United States.
