The Galician Rural Cooperative CLUN, headquartered in Caldas de Reis, proudly announced that one of its products, the Clesa condensed milk can, had been chosen to appear in the movie Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. This film is the fourth installment in the series starring Harrison Ford alongside Spanish actor Antonio Banderas. The can was used on the boat where Renaldo, a friend of Indy’s, lived.

Last June 30, the Indiana Jones movie was released and the most attentive spectators were able to see one of the Galician products in it. It appears for a brief moment when Helena, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, discovers the ship’s galley cabinet containing a metal canister of Clesa condensed milk.
Since 1943, Clesa has been an important part of Spain’s dairy history. The mythical condensed milk canister no longer exists. It is run by Agrupación Cooperativas Lácteas Acolact and has been replacing its old products with new flavors that have become popular; this includes everything from yogurts to dairy desserts and milk.

The past 20th century was marked by the use of condensed milk, a highly energetic and nutritious food. Therefore, it became one of the most common pantry products among many households. Especially during the late 1960s, when preservation technologies were not as advanced, this product was perfect for long term consumption without refrigeration. However, its use has now declined and the company has decided to stop manufacturing it.
