The production in the steel mills of China falls, this past August they produced 13.2% less compared to the same period last year. A similar situation was also recorded the previous month with a drop in production of 8.4%, according to the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).

However, when compared to other countries, most of the world’s other major steel producing nations maintained a good pace to serve economies that continue to recover.

Production in the United States was up 26.8% compared to August 2020. Turkey, the main export destination for ferrous scrap, saw production increase by 7.1% year-on-year in August, while production in North America rose by 24.4% and in the European Union increased by 27.1% and in India the increase was 8.2%.
