Canthynnus is a new project with Spanish seal of online sales specialized in canned seafood products. It has the particularity that it has a subscription system that takes you home gourmet cans of fish and seafood. Undoubtedly, it is an experience that can also be enjoyed at home and a way to bring canned food closer to a younger, modern and digital public, sometimes not so familiar with this type of product.

The most innovative thing is that the customer pays a monthly subscription, starting at 39.90€, and receives at home a selection of premium canned food, 4 or 5 cans, chosen from the best producers in Spain, such as Galicia, Cantabria, Valencia or Andalusia.

Great ideas emerge in difficult times. Canthynnus was born during the confinement, motivated by the tenacity of three brothers willing to undertake. They themselves visit and choose their suppliers, most of them Galician canners. It should be remembered that this sector, which has excellent raw materials, employs more than 26,000 direct workers. It should not be forgotten that Spain is the leading producer of canned fish and seafood in the EU and the second largest in the world.

Although the canning sector plays a very important role, more than 48% of the total revenues of the top 65 companies in the sector came from outside Spain. This trend seems to be changing. In 2020, sales increased by 10% in Spain with 4.85kg and 50.19 € per person.

Canthynnus is also a project with a clear environmental DNA. Therefore, with the purchase of each can, Canthynnus removes 100 grams of plastic from the Mediterranean Sea thanks to the collaboration of Gravity Wave, a startup from Alicante that collects waste, such as ghost nets and packaging, with which it then produces various products resulting from its circular economy projects. In addition, through its partnership with the Stripe Climate initiative, Canthynnus allocates 1% of its revenues to various innovation projects aimed at reducing its carbon footprint.
