Britvic, the soft drink manufacturer, opened a new canning line at its Rugby factory. The manufacturer intends to make an investment of more than 32 million euros in the aforementioned site.

This announcement involves the expansion of the aforementioned facilities to a total of four canning lines, increasing production capacity by 20% and creating 20 new jobs, bringing the total number of employees to more than 340.

The ‘cutting edge line’, which produces internationally known brands such as Tango, Pepsi and 7UP, is based at the Glebe Farm Industrial Estate, which is Britvic’s largest production site. According to Britvic, the factory has some of the fastest lines in Europe, with the new canning line producing around 120,000 cans per hour. With this new canning line, the total production rate has been increased to just under half a million cans per hour.

Britvic has a 35-year history of rugby manufacturing and the fourth canning line shows that the company remains committed to its site and its employees. Nigel Paine, supply chain director, added: “Britvic knows that a strong supply chain is critical to its continued success. Having created a long-term modern supply chain with our Enterprise Capability Program, we are now leveraging it.”

However, many of the cans used by Britvic also benefit from a significantly reduced carbon footprint due to its agreement with the neighboring factory of metal packaging manufacturer Ardagh Group, which ships cans to Britvic through a tunnel linking the two factories.
