A County Armagh brewery has invested more than €700,000, (£800,000) in new brewing equipment and canning machinery. Its aim is to increase sales throughout the Northern Ireland market.

Spadetown Brewing Company, established in 2021 by Belfast IT company founder Novosco Patrick McAliskey as well as Martin Dumigan, commissioned three new fermenters and installed a new canning line at its Lurgan base. With this investment, the brewery will be able to brew 2.3 million liters of beer per year and fill 2,200 cans per hour.

“With the additional capacity offered by our new fermenters and the improved production efficiency from our new canning line, we are equipped with the technology to capitalize on the significant opportunity Spadetown has in the market.” said Spadetown co-founder Patrick McAliskey.. “The investment also solidifies our commitment to re-establish and reinvent Lurgan’s rich brewing heritage; to preserve tradition, create new employment opportunities and fertile ground for future investment in the local area, and to produce a premium export product that is unique to this place and its communities.” reiterated.

In order to reinforce the company’s growth strategy, the company hired two new senior team members. It’s Dave Graham, Spadetown’s new Brewing Guru, who will oversee the development of the brewery’s three new product launches; a Raging Red Ale and Dark Cloud Stout, as well as a zero-alcohol IPA to be released early next year.

He joins the Spadetown team alongside its new commercial director, Annie David, who is tasked with developing the Spadetown brand proposition in the local market through launching new products, securing retail listings and increasing its availability in watering holes in Northern Ireland.
