Baosteel Packaging, a subsidiary of the Chinese group Baosteel, is constructing a new beverage can plant in the province of Kampong Speu, Cambodia. With an investment of approximately $50.7 million, this facility represents Baosteel’s second beverage can plant in Cambodia and its fifth in Southeast Asia, following its operations in Vietnam and Malaysia.
The plant will be located in the Jiahua Industrial Park and will feature advanced equipment for the production of two-piece aluminum cans, with a projected annual capacity of more than one billion units. The facility is expected to create more than 150 local jobs and contribute to reducing dependence on can imports in Cambodia’s beverage industry, where there is currently a dominant supplier.
This project is part of Baosteel Packaging’s international expansion strategy, which seeks to strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian market and improve competitiveness in the metal packaging sector.
