US-based Ball Metalpack LLC has announced that it will expand the number of workers at its Milwaukee plant with 50 new contracts after starting up a new two-piece food can production line at the facility.

The new high speed two-piece food can production line will enhance the production of millions of food cans and allow Ball Metalpack to meet the growing demand in the food and nutrition industries especially in the USA. In addition, this second production line improves start-up time and significantly reduces the overall cost structure.

According to Jim Peterson, CEO of Ball Metalpack, %22We continue to see increased demand for our food cans and this major investment in our manufacturing capacity is a direct result of several long term contracts with key customers%22.

The opening of the new food can line comes 10 months after the company launched a new high-speed aerosol can line at its DeForest plant earlier this year. At that time, the company also announced the addition of 20 new employees to the plant’s staff of 90 workers.

These new hires join 120 existing employees, according to Broomfield, Colorado-based Ball Metalpack. Ball Metalpack was formed in June 2018 when Ball Corp. partnered with Los Angeles investment firm Platinum Equity following a $675 million deal. Ball Metalpack currently manufactures steel containers for aerosol products, food, household consumables, pet food, nutritional products, etc. At the time of the deal, Platinum Equity owned 51% of Ball Metalpack while Ball owned the remaining 49%.
