The Ardagh Group has announced that it has contracted the services of the company Pöyry to design and study the basic and detailed engineering, supply management and environmental impact studies for the beverage can factory to be built in Juiz de Fora (MG).

Jorge Bannitz, CEO of Ardagh Metal Packaging, emphasizes that “the strictest sustainable criteria were followed in the design of the factory. The factory was designed with modern equipment, state-of-the-art technology and high energy efficiency to reduce the consumption of electricity, fuel and water in the process. In order to minimize environmental impact, equipment was installed to reduce the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere and the use of renewable electricity.

“We must also think about the possibility of using rail potentials to build a terminal, to receive raw materials and transport finished products from Ardagh” adds the CEO.

The Pöyry team identified several options for the future complex and the client chose an area of 400,000 m² located in Industrial District II. The client chose this area because their presence would be stronger in the Southeast region if they made this expansion.
