The multinational company Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) has just finished last November, the expansion works of the second phase of expansion of the production capacity of aluminum cans at its plant in Jacareí (SP) in order to meet the increase of the current demand.

This expansion is part of the expansion plans that the company intends to carry out in Brazil until 2022, which includes the expansion of the headquarters that the multinational has in the municipalities of Manaus (AM) and Alagoinhas (BA). Specifically, at the Vale do Paraíba plant, new equipment has been installed to optimize the production lines for 269 ml, 350 ml, 355 ml and 473 ml Sleek bottles. In addition to this, 61 new employees have been hired, who have undergone a 35-day training process.

Gustavo Junqueira, president of InvestSP says that “our environmental team works closely with companies to help them find solutions that increase their competitiveness by reducing their environmental impact. Ardagh is setting a great example to the packaging sector by increasing production and respect for the environment”.

The company is already conducting studies together with Companhia Ambiental de São Paulo (Cetesb), with the support of InvestSP, to find the VOC control equipment that will enable the company to reach the global goal of reducing the emission of atmospheric pollutants by 10% by 2030.

In addition to this, other immediate objectives include the reduction of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions; water consumption; and the use of one hundred percent renewable energy in the operation of the Jacareí plant.
