With more factories and suppliers, the Brazilian aluminum beverage can sector has been strengthened in the last year. Proof of this is that this sector, in full expansion, registered an increase in the number of members in Abralatas, the Brazilian Association of Aluminum Can Manufacturers.

This non-profit civil association was created in March 2003 by Brazilian manufacturers of aluminum beverage cans, with the objective of establishing the exchange of experiences with society and promoting the development and increase of competitiveness of this container and its production chain in Brazil.

During the second half of 2022, five new major companies in the Latin production chain decided to join the association. Since 2019, in addition to the expansion and arrival of new factories in Brazil, there was also a 160% increase in the number of associated companies. “We were 11 associates three years ago and today we are 29. This shows that we are on the right path, strengthening our entity as a spokesperson for the sector,” emphasized Abralatas’ executive president, Cátilo Cândido.

“We understand that this increase in the number of associates directly reflects the continuous and sustainable growth of the sector in Brazil, in addition to the recognition of the important role played by Abralatas,” added Cândido.

In addition to new factories and expansions, industry suppliers have also increased their presence in the manufacturing regions. This is the case of Roeslein, one of the main equipment producers and service providers for can manufacturing in Brazil. A new member of Abralatas, the company arrived in Brazil in 2020 and, in just over two years, has already opened a new unit in Arujá, São Paulo (SP).

Another company that became part of Abralatas is CSI NTF (NonWovens and Filters), which produces textile items that are essential in the can manufacturing process. Wacol is also one of the new members. The company offers a complete line of seals for the entire metal packaging industry, including food chemical applications.

CTA Equipamentos manufactures machines and equipment for the aluminum can production line and joins the list of partners. The company has its own headquarters in São Paulo (SP) and currently serves the entire national market and also Mercosur. The latest to join Abralatas was Sun Chemical, one of the world’s leading producers of printing solutions for various sectors, including 2- and 3-piece metal packaging, also has a headquarters in the state of São Paulo, Guarulhos.
