President and CEO Charles Johnson of the Aluminum Association has made public his decision to work with the Trump Administration to promote a globally competitive U.S. aluminum industry, while aiming to ensure a level playing field for U.S. manufacturers.

He has further assured that “The U.S. aluminum industry relies on strong trade enforcement as a key pillar for growth and investment in the sector.”

Unlike the rest of the world the Aluminum Association applauds this tariff policy and says they are prepared to work side by side with Jamieson Greer and his team, who are already working to “support American workers, businesses and consumers.”

The aluminum industry supports nearly 700,000 total jobs and generates $228 billion in economic output in the United States.

Since 2016, Aluminum Association member companies have announced more than $10 billion in investments in manufacturing operations within the country, including the construction of new U.S. facilities for the first time since the 1980s.

These investments will help us meet the growing demand for aluminum, a material used in everything from cans and automobiles to buildings, electrical infrastructure, tanks and fighter jets, Johnson points out.
