The Shanghai Keichuang company, owner of the globally known canning company Hijos de Carlos Albo, announced that it is moving production from Celeiro to a new plant in Salvaterra do Miño (Pontevedra), which means that the Celeiro plant will also be closed. This results in another closure: the Vigo plant will be moved to a new location.
The under-age workers are sitting in circles waiting for negotiations to begin on their transfers or severance payments should they choose to reject the offer.
The Celeiro plant employs 50% of the people in this small town which is to supply mainly the port with products. On the other hand, two employees in charge of the unloading and loading sector are treated as the last specimens.
The chain plans to send personnel to load the machines during the vacations of the women working in the oil mill, so they estimate the closure after the summer. In 2016, the Chinese company Shanghai Kaichuang bought three Acel production plants in Vigo, Tapia and Celeiro. Imagine what would happen if they ended this.
