A young Argentine content creator shared on TikTok the results of an unusual recycling experiment: she spent a year collecting aluminum cans and revealed how much money she made from selling them. The video went viral mainly because of the young woman’s disappointment, since the price of aluminum was 850 pesos per kilo (about eight euros at the exchange rate).  After weighing the consortium bags containing his 12 months’ work, the result was just over 10 kilos, equivalent to 9,200 pesos (about 80 euros).

The young woman explained that her initiative was not part of a daily routine or a planned strategy, but because she thought she could get some more money: “It’s not something I do every day, only when I find places and I have a little bag or something to take them to.

The experiment exposed the difficulty of generating significant income from the collection of recyclable materials, even over an extended period of time. However, his publication generated mixed reactions: while some users celebrated his commitment to the environment, others questioned whether the effort was worth the financial reward.
